NC Spartans Summer Circuit Progression (16U WA Spartans)

Ethan’s summer campaign with the 16U WA Spartans has officially come to a close, marking a critical stage in his development as a dual-threat combo guard (PG/SG). Playing up in age and competition levels throughout the summer, Ethan and the Spartans regularly faced older, more physically aggressive rosters. Despite the stepped-up competition, the team delivered a strong, resilient summer performance, showcasing high-level teamwork, discipline, and execution under pressure.

Key Technical & Tactical Development

On the floor, Ethan demonstrated notable growth in his skill set and basketball IQ:

  • Offensive Efficiency: Consistent perimeter threat, knocking down three-pointers while continuing to stretch defenses.

  • Finishing Capability: Improved rim finish versatility, particularly strong with left-hand layups in traffic.

  • Playmaking & Floor Generalship: Showed high court vision and selfless playmaking—executing set offensive schemes, distributing the ball effectively, and elevating teammates without forcing shots.

  • Physicality & Exposure: Adapted well to high-contact, fast-paced play, gaining invaluable exposure running both the point and shooting guard spots.




Coaching Continuity & Transition to High School

A primary catalyst for Ethan’s summer growth was the leadership of Coach Leak, whose structural coaching and high-standard discipline pushed the roster forward.

In a major advantage heading into the upcoming high school season, Ethan will retain that developmental continuity. Coach Leak will also lead the Glenn High School varsity program for the upcoming season, allowing Ethan to seamlessly transition his summer momentum, play-calling familiarity, and tactical alignment directly into his junior year.

Looking Ahead: Junior Year at Glenn High School

Equipped with expanded court vision, added physical toughness, and proven perimeter shooting, Ethan enters his junior season prepared to take on a key leadership role at Glenn High School. Expect him to bring the battle-tested experience from the 16U circuit directly to the high school stage, operating as a dependable, well-rounded floor general and secondary scorer.

 Navigating the 16U AAU landscape presents distinct challenges, particularly regarding the prevalent trend of older, reclassified athletes playing down a division. However, this past weekend, Ethan and the  NC Spartans (Coach Leak) proved they belong on the big stage. Facing older, physically imposing opponents, the squad demonstrated exceptional grit, reinforcing that elite competition accelerates player development. Bring on the challenge. Under Coach Leak’s leadership, the 16U Spartans delivered an impressive 2-1 record over their three-game slate beginning May 30. Most notably, the team secured a resilient victory while operating short-handed with only a five-man rotation—a testament to the program's conditioning and execution.
