 Game Recap: Blue Chip Fall League Opening Weekend

The Blue Chip Fall League season officially tipped off on Saturday, September 12, and the G. Bobcats hit the floor for an intense Week 1 battle. Featuring a roster composed of core players from the Glenn High School Varsity squad alongside top JV prospects, the group demonstrated grit and chemistry from the opening tip against the Team Select.

In a hard-fought, high-tempo contest that stretched into overtime, both teams traded blows until the final whistle. Though the Glenn ultimately fell short in over time, the squad showed incredible resilience on the court.

Player Spotlight: Ethan Williams

Stepping up off the bench as the primary backup point guard, Ethan delivered a high-impact performance that shifted the game’s momentum. Demonstrating sharp floor vision, composure under pressure, and elite court vision, Ethan played a pivotal role in rallying the team and forcing overtime.




Stat Line: 6 Points | 4 Assists | 1 Block

Impact: Controlled the tempo, facilitated the offense with key assists, and anchored the perimeter defense with active hands and strong tracking on the ball.

Ethan’s ability to step into a sixth-man role and provide instant energy, leadership, and efficiency off the pine made him a clear standout on the floor. He continues to put in the work, sharpen his skill set at the guard position, and showcase the IQ and work ethic required to compete at the next level.

However, this past weekend, Ethan and the  NC Spartans (Coach Leak) proved they belong on the big stage. Facing older, physically imposing opponents, the squad demonstrated exceptional grit, reinforcing that elite competition accelerates player development. Bring on the challenge. Under Coach Leak’s leadership, the 16U Spartans delivered an impressive 2-1 record over their three-game slate beginning May 30.
